How to fix Product snippet errors in Google Search Console

When Search Console reports “Either offers, review, or aggregateRating should be specified,” do not add a fake price or rating. First determine why Google believes the page contains a Product entity.

During an audit, six Product errors appeared for Granite, Marble, Quartz Stone, Sandstone, Slate, and Porcelain Tiles. One global configuration was declaring all six as Products throughout the website.

Instead of adding properties to every item, the incorrect global markup was removed. Piyshef’s technical SEO services include structured-data and Search Console diagnosis.

What Does This Product Snippet Error Mean?

Product structured data describes a specific product and may support search appearances containing price, availability, ratings, or reviews.

Google’s Product snippet documentation states that a Product snippet requires a product name and at least one of these properties:

  • Offer information
  • A review
  • An aggregate rating

The error means Product markup lacks required supporting information. It does not mean those fields must be added; first decide whether Product markup belongs on the page.

Product Schema Does Not Belong on Every Page

A natural-stone website may mention several materials on its homepage, About page, and blogs. A mention does not make each category a Product entity.

Product markup should represent a page focused on a specific product. Applying it globally can affect hundreds of URLs. Website design and development should keep global and page-level markup separate.

Why the Same Error Appears Across an Entire Website

Search Console reports detected items, not simply pages. If a template injects six invalid Products into 500 URLs, one faulty rule may be responsible.

Common sources include:

  • An SEO or schema plugin
  • WooCommerce or another ecommerce plugin
  • Theme-generated markup
  • Elementor Custom Code
  • Header or footer scripts
  • Tag-management tools
  • Cached versions of previous code

Diagnosis must focus on the system producing the markup. Our guide to how Piyshef helps businesses grow online explains how website and SEO systems work together.

How to Fix the Product Snippet Error

1. Open the Product Snippets Report

Open the Product snippets report under Shopping or Enhancements. Review several URLs, detected item names, affected templates, crawl dates, and repeated entities.

Google’s rich-result report guidance confirms that totals refer to detected items, not necessarily pages.

2. Test an Affected URL

Use Google’s Rich Results Test on a representative page. Unexpected Product entities on a homepage are a warning sign.

Test the homepage, product pages, service pages, and blogs to determine whether the markup is page-specific or global.

3. Inspect the Live Page Output

The live source shows what search engines receive. Find Product markup and compare its names with the Search Console items.

If the same products appear on unrelated URLs, find the shared template or global script. WordPress may receive markup from several systems simultaneously.

4. Find the Schema Generator

Check plugins, WooCommerce, the theme, review tools, Elementor Custom Code, header or footer injections, and their display conditions.

In this case, a head-level custom-code block used an “Entire Site” condition and declared multiple Products, creating the same errors everywhere.

5. Decide Whether the Product Entity Should Exist

Ask the following questions:

  • Is the page genuinely about one identifiable product?
  • Is the product information visible to users?
  • Does the page include useful product details and images?
  • Is the entity relevant to the page’s main purpose?
  • Is Product rich-result eligibility actually required?

If not, remove the entity. For a genuine product page, use real visible information.

6. Never Add Fake Prices, Offers, or Ratings

Google’s structured-data guidelines prohibit misleading markup. Never invent prices, stock status, reviews, ratings, or offers.

Online reputation management should support genuine feedback, not manufacture rating data for schema.

7. Correct Only the Problematic Markup

Do not delete every block because one section is wrong. Other page-appropriate markup may remain valid.

Only the incorrect Products were removed from the global configuration. Edit carefully because a formatting mistake can invalidate the remaining markup.

8. Clear Caches and Retest

After publishing, purge WordPress, server, CDN, optimisation-plugin, Elementor, and browser caches. Inspect the live source again.

Confirm that:

  • The unwanted Product entities are gone
  • The correct structured data remains
  • The markup parses successfully
  • The visible page matches the structured data
  • Multiple page types now return the expected result

Request Search Console validation only after template-level errors are fixed across affected URLs.

When Is Product Schema Appropriate?

Product markup suits a page dedicated to one product. An Absolute Black Granite page may show its origin, photographs, finishes, thicknesses, sizes, applications, and availability.

A B2B page can be genuine when buyers request quotations. Do not invent a public price; markup must reflect visible information.

Choose Schema According to Page Purpose

A cleaner structure separates schema according to what each page represents:

  • Company-level pages may use Organization information
  • The website may use appropriate WebSite markup
  • Blog posts may use Article and Breadcrumb markup
  • Genuine product pages may use Product markup
  • Eligible location pages may use relevant LocalBusiness markup

SEO and consulting are services, not physical products. Piyshef’s local SEO services page should reflect its visible service purpose rather than being forced into Product markup.

Do Product Schema Errors Affect Rankings?

A Product error does not automatically prevent indexing or cause a direct ranking penalty. It can make the item ineligible for the intended rich result.

Valid markup does not guarantee stars, rich results, rankings, or traffic. Structured data supports helpful content and website structure; it does not replace them.

Internal links and topic structure still matter. Our guide to SEO authority clusters explains how related pages establish context beyond structured data.

Product Schema for Local and Travel Websites

Local businesses should not mark every service as a Product. Their priorities include service pages, local relevance, reviews, Google Business Profile, internal links, and enquiries. See our guide to choosing an SEO company in Udaipur.

Travel websites should organise destinations, routes, services, packages, and booking intent. Our travel SEO guide explains this structure.

This guide to IT companies in Udaipur outlines capabilities for combined development and SEO support.

On-page SEO is the process of improving an individual page’s content, headings, links, images, HTML elements, and technical signals so users and search engines can understand its purpose.

Choose one primary topic and support it with closely related secondary terms. Avoid mixing unrelated services or search intents on one page.

There is no fixed number. Add internal links wherever they help readers reach relevant content or important service pages.

No. Use structured data only when an eligible schema type accurately matches the information visible on the page.

Not always. Rankings may also depend on competition, website authority, technical health, content quality, backlinks, local relevance, and ongoing optimization.
